Unexpected or not? In the ratings battle between TV titans The Big Bang Theory and Game of Thrones, laughs won out. The former beat out HBO's acclaimed fantasy drama by a whisker as the two beloved approach their series finales, The India Times reported.
CBS’ Big Bang drew 12.6 million live viewers last week, while HBO’s GoT had 12.5 million. It was the second week in a row on top for the geek sitcom, whose 12-season run ends this week.

However, since HBO is available in fewer homes the week can still be considered a win for Game of Thrones, which continues to break its own viewership records.
Big Bang's penultimate episode had 18.4 million viewers if reruns later that night and streaming service views are included. That breaks its own record set earlier in the season and makes it the most-watched episode of any show in HBO history.
GoT has recently received negative reviews, with it's final season disappointing many fans. Nonetheless, it has somehow managed to keep viewers on tenterhooks for the last five weeks.
