QUETTA: Severe thunderstorms in various parts of Balochistan submerged the province’s low-lying areas, leaving several areas without electricity on Wednesday.

Heavy rainfall also caused flooding in rivers and nullahs in Kohlu district, the floodwater sweeping away 20 goats there. Heavy downpours were also reported in Kalat, Pishin, Zhob and adjoining areas.

The Meteorological Office has reported 2millimetres of rainfall in Lasbela, Jaffarabad, Dera Allahyar, Usta Muhammad and Sohbatpur districts and has forecast that the mercury would drop by four to six degrees in Quetta after the rains.

It has also forecast dust storms, thunderstorms and rain at scattered places in Balochistan from Wednesday to Saturday.
