K-P govt to market Buddhist tourism

Our region has been the centre of the world’s oldest cultures: K-P Minister for Information Shaukat Ali Yousafzai

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has said that provincial government is encouraging tourism to bring tourists from across the world to see relics of cultures like Buddhism and Gandhara.

“We have rich culture of Buddhism and Gandhara in our country. Our region has been the centre of the world’s oldest cultures,” he said. He expressed these views in an event organised by the Peshawar Museum after successful exhibition of Buddha in Switzerland.

Swiss Ambassador Thomas Kolly, members of the provincial Assembly, secretaries of various departments and other guests attended the ceremony.  Kolly thanked the provincial government for sending historical statue of Buddha to Switzerland which made the exhibition successful.
