TURBAT, KECH: We tend to crave foods that we know are going to do us no good. We love unhealthy foods because they contain lots of sugar and artificial additives, taste delicious, and therefore trigger certain neurotransmitters. They are low in vitamins, minerals and fibre content.
Albeit often ignored are the side effects of such food items. They lead to a number of serious diseases, including obesity, vascular disorder, diabetes and others.
Yet the importance of healthy and balanced diet cannot be undermined. Eating a healthy diet can help us maintain a well-conditioned life. Moreover, we must replace convenience food with healthy fibre-enriched diet.
Especially the young need to be discouraged from heavy consumption of junk food. Little by little, one can bring the needed shift to their diet and eating habits and bring well-being to their lives.
