Cristiano Ronaldo maybe the player Juventus needed to win the Champions League, which they obviously did not in the 2018-19 season, but an Italian football club owner believes he's more than a footballer at the club.

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is well-know for his no-nonsense comments, believes Ronaldo has replaced Massimiliano Allegri as the coach in the team.

Ronaldo tells Juventus to sign these three players to win Champions League

"Cristiano Ronaldo’s strong because he’s replaced his coach with his presence. What’s [Allegri] had to do this season?” De Laurentiis said during an interview with Corriere dello Sport.

De Laurentiis continued by calling the Portuguese star the real 'motivator' in the Juventus team.

“The real motivator is Ronaldo, he’s the man of the dressing room. When I saw him play for his national team, I saw him sitting on the bench driving his team and shouting more than his Coach to make them win," said De Laurentiis.

Juve reportedly planning to unite Ronaldo and 'new Ronaldo'

When asked if he would like to bring the star striker to Napoli, the Italian filmmaker said the Portuguese star was too expensive.

“I couldn’t afford him: my parents taught me that you have to always work within your means," he concluded.

Ronaldo's first season at Juventus cannot be considered a failure story as he has won the Italian Serie A title with the club, but was knocked out of his favourite competition, the Champions League, by a young Ajax in the last-16 round.
