The film industry is now foraying into international platforms as local films are now screened at several film festivals. Films and documentaries such as Verna, Pinky Memsaab and Rani screened on different prestigious film events. And Ilyas believes government should play an imperative role in promoting the industry.
"Though the young film-makers are making films which are self-funded, the government should help them access the international market. Otherwise, the film-makers of today will not be successful in taking Pakistani films global," she added.
“I had already make my mark in the industry through modeling. So, when I stepped into acting, I had decided to work for the film industry and prove myself," the model went on. "I learned a lot while working in the fashion industry for a while. I accepted a movie offer, and I received worldwide recognition.”
Ilyas further commented that she walked runways for several countries other than Pakistan, adding she is well aware that a film star is treated with far more respect than any other person in the entertainment industry.
"The film industry enjoys special importance in the international market; movies however do not get the same respect and recognition in Pakistan," she shared.
