Railways minister says Shehbaz cannot escape money laundering case

ISLAMABAD: In the fake accounts case, Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari is closing in on a deal.

“Zardari desires a deal on the lines of [former Punjab chief minister] Shehbaz Sharif’s formula,” said the railways minister while talking to the media on Sunday.

“Shehbaz can save himself from all the cases, but not the money laundering one, which [Prime Minister] Imran Khan made,” said Rashid.

He claimed that Imran would prefer leaving the government than agree to a deal. “Imran will complete his five-year term,” said Rashid.

He said the demand of the people seeking a National Reconciliation Ordinance-type deal was to go abroad.



On corrupt fleeing abroad, he said, “If a movement against inflation is launched it is a different thing, but launching a movement for the sole purpose of going to London will certainly not work.”

To a question on JUI-F chief’s role in all this, Rashid said Fazlur Rehman was an expert in playing on both the sides of the wicket.

He said no movement was going to be launched against the government after Eidul Fitr.

“We are afraid of rising inflation and unemployment, not the opposition,” said Rashid, adding that coming days were important.

“Amnesty scheme is coming, a deal is being finalised with the International Monetary Fund and the budget is also coming,” he added.

He said Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was active, but mostly in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
