Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid tribute to mothers of martyrs on Mother's Day, saying "no power can defeat Pakistan until the mothers who sacrifice their sons for the homeland are present".
"I salute to the mothers whose sacrifices helped the country to achieve prosperity," said the army chief during a ceremony on Sunday.
The COAS honoured the nation's military mothers for their unwavering dedication and support to strengthen the entire nation.

Moreover, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari posted picture of her slain mother and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto on the microblogging website, Twitter, and wished on Mother's Day saying: “Your heaven lies under the feet of your mother.”

Maryam Nawaz, vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), expressed her love in a poetic expression for her late mother and former three-time first lady Kulsoom Nawaz.
"Is there a day without mother, a day isn't a day without mother", she wrote on her Twitter handle.

Besides politicians and army chief people belonging to showbiz, civil society and other walks of life also expressed their love for mothers.
International Mother’s Day is being celebrated across the country as elsewhere in the world on the second Sunday of May.
