HYDERABAD:
The Sindh High Court has rejected 356 more petitions filed by eateries seeking exemption from the Ehtram-e-Ramzan Ordinance, 1981, following the dismissal of 262 identical petitions last week. The court ruled that the eateries located at bus stops or outside hospitals, primary schools, railway stations, airports and seaports do not qualify for the exemption. According to the Ordinance’s section 5, only a canteen or a kitchen at a hospital; a restaurant, a canteen or a stall in the premises of a railway station, airport, seaport, train, aircraft or bus stand; and a kitchen or a canteen inside a primary school can operate during fasting hours in Ramazan.
