Everyone thought it was a joke when reality show superstar Kim Kardashian West announced she is studying to become a lawyer.  The internet was sent into a frenzy when a Vogue cover story revealed the beauty mogul is reinventing herself, with many praising her career revelation while other commenters told her to "stay in her lane."

But the selfie-expert and social media influencer seems to be dead-set serious about her career aspirations, staying committed to her pledge to fight for prison reform.  Kardashian West has quietly helped fund the 90 Days of Freedom Campaign led by a team of female lawyers who have helped free 17 first-time non-violent drug offenders.

"Kim Kardashian has been instrumental in funding the legal fees for vital attorney representation, transportation for newly freed prisoners so they have a ride home to their families and reentry costs related to our clients' smooth transition back into society," shared lawyer MiAngel Cody, founder of the Decarceration Collective, via CBS News.

"She has supported 17 prisoners' release from prison and their ongoing decarceration."

Kardashian and her family have become multi-millionaires by influencing everything from fashion to beauty to emojis.  Now, the Keeping up with the Kardashians star wants to inspire others to take a more intellectual leap.

The mother-of-three was motivated to study law after increasing her involvement in criminal justice reform last year to help release 63-year-old grandmother and nonviolent drug offender Alice Marie Johnson.

US President Donald Trump discussed the matter with the aspiring lawyer in a meeting, after which Mr Trump commuted the sentence.  From there, Kardashian West decided to start a four-year apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco and aims to take the bar exam in 2022.

"I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society," explained Kardashian to Vogue. "I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more.”

Seems like Kim will be keeping super busy juggling a law degree, shooting a reality show and juggling her numerous business ventures!
