ISLAMABAD: The socio-economic development of merged districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is among top priority areas of the current government, announced Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar.

Talking to Adviser to Prime Minister on Establishment Division Dr Shehzad Arbab who called on him on Wednesday, Bakhtiar emphasised that all possible measures would be taken to bring the region on a par with other areas of the country.

The minister pointed out that the next Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) was under process and less developed areas would be accorded priority including the erstwhile Fata. He added that a number of infrastructure and socio-economic projects would be initiated in the merged districts on demand. Various infrastructure and other projects pertaining to the region came under discussion in the meeting.
