CM orders police to ensure smooth flow of traffic

Divisional commissioners asked to keep check on prices of edible items

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the police department to maintain law and order in the province to the best of their abilities and ensure proper traffic flow in Karachi, Hyderabad and all major cities of Sindh during Ramazan.

The CM, talking to the Sindh IGP, chief secretary and local government ministers, directed to provide security to all mosques where Taraweeh prayers are being held.

He also urged the IGP to re-arrange traffic police deployment during peak hours of Iftar so that citizens don't have to suffer traffic jams.

In a separate meeting with the chief secretary, the CM directed him to activate the district administration for price control. "I want all the divisional commissioners to be given clear instructions that no prices other than those fixed will be tolerated," he said and ordered a crackdown against hoarding.

35,000-strong force to ensure security

Shah directed the district administration to ensure proper display of approved rate lists of edibles at all shops and stores.

Shah, in a separate meeting with Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh, directed him to talk to Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO), Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) and K-Electric to ensure uninterrupted electricity to their customers during Iftar and Sahoor time. "I want these power distribution companies to resort to minimum load-shedding during the holy month," he said.

The CM directed Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani to activate Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and Hyderabad Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for water supply in their areas and also asked him to ensure proper cleanliness of the city by issuing necessary instructions to Sindh Solid Waste Management Authority, district municipal corporations (DMCs) and other local bodies all over Sindh.
