This former YouTuber is sentenced to 10 years in jail

Former YouTube star Austin Jones has been sentenced to ten years in prison as he pled guilty to one count of “receipt of child pornography”, according to a judge sentence via Buzzfeed News.

YouTube has also removed Jones’ channel in February this year after his guilty plea. Jones’ career began as a musician back in 2007 after which he claimed more popularity with this a capella covers of popular songs.



Although in 2015, reports circulated that he had contacted underage girls to send him videos. Jones has admitted to this in a video on his channel for which he was embarrassed but he did deny reports of him ‘soliciting explicit videos from fans.’

After all the allegations and reports, Jones was arrested in 2017 for asking two underage girls for explicit videos that he admitted to using on Facebook and iMessage when he was chatting with teenage girls encouraging them further to send more pornographic content.

Jones pled guilty to all the charges while YouTube took his account down but didn’t completely remove it stating that the channel itself does not violate any terms of service.



“Today’s sentencing of Austin Jones represents a major step towards justice for the young victims whom he manipulated and exploited,” Homeland Security Special Agent-in-Charge James Gibbons said in a release as Jones will be spending 10 years in prison.
