Food dept starts wheat procurement drive

FAISALABAD: The district food department on Friday started wheat procurement campaign in the district.

District Food Controller Zainul Abideen said 19,819 gunny sacks have so far been distributed among the wheat growers in the district while total 112,105 bags were available with the department.

He said 194,000 tonnes of wheat would be procured from farmers during the current procurement campaign in the district.

Earlier, target for the district was set at 149,000 tonnes, which had been revised upward by the government.
