LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has sought a report from the health department about the detection of a polio case in Lahore.
The CM has also expressed indignation with the administration and agencies concerned that the detection of a polio case in Lahore was a very shameful matter.
He directed the departments concerned to accelerate comprehensive steps for the eradication of polio in the province. He said all the departments would have to produce results through coordinated efforts. He also directed the authorities to launch a comprehensive awareness campaign for the steps taken for the eradication of polio.
Buzdar said he would not tolerate any negligence in anti-polio efforts. “Protecting the future-builders of the nation from fatal diseases like polio is our collective responsibility and making Pakistan and the Punjab polio-free is our mission,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, in his message on the International Firefighters’ Day, Buzdar said firefighters perform the duty of saving the people from fire-related incidents by putting their lives in danger.
In his message, the chief minister said modern training was important so the firefighters could better manage the emergencies and their professional skills would play an important role in this regard.
“Punjab government is providing the best possible resources and steps have been taken to give the latest training to Rescue-1122 staff. He said that the scope of this service was being devolved to the grassroots. The chief minister said that Punjab government pays rich tributes to the firefighters who have rendered invaluable services for overcoming the incidents of fire.
“The purpose of observing this day is to pay tributes to such brave people who take part in rescue operations and we also reiterate our commitment that steps will be taken for minimising the arson-related incidents,” Buzdar concluded.
