According to details, S*, a resident of Mansehra district, lodged a complaint with FIA stating that Z* had sent her a threatening message, claiming he would share her picture on social media if she refused to meet him.
“We received the complaint and verified the complaint from different angles,” a senior FIA official dealing with cybercrime told The Express Tribune.
The officer, who requested anonymity, stated teams were formed to trace Z and ultimately he was arrested and booked under the relevant section of the law.

He also stated that earlier people would not come forward and would succumb to threatening messages they would receive, which would create problems for women in particular. He added that with awareness among the general public and their confidence in the law enforcement agencies, people had started lodging their complaints and their issues were being addressed.
In February, the cyber crime wing had arrested and registered a case against a man for defaming a woman by uploading her photos on social media. According to a complaint filed with FIA sub-inspector Naheed Bilal, Irfan Ali Shah defamed the victim through messages and had sent pictures to relatives on Facebook.
In November, FIA arrested a man for his alleged involvement in child pornography in the Haripur district. FIA raided a house in Tarbela and arrested Waqar Ahmad who was involved in recording child pornography videos. Ahmad had been traced with the assistance from Interpol Spain since he had been in contact with international groups dealing in child pornography who would later upload videos on the internet.
