Jesse Lingard, 26, told the Daily Mirror that the 34-year-old has been the best in the world and would slot right back in as United try to find their lost glory.
“I would love to sign Ronaldo,” the England international forward said. “He has been one of the best players in the world over the last decade. He has been here before so he would slot right back in."
Lingard added that Ronaldo was a hero to him when he started off as a football player, and would love to play alongside the five times Ballon d'Or winner.
“Growing up he was just unbelievable to watch in a United shirt, so on a personal note it would be amazing to play with him.”
Talking about a renewed United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Lingard said that the Red Devils need to start the next season on a winning note if they want to compete for the Premier League title.
“We have to put together a run of games like we did between January to April, I think we were on a par with both of them if not better," he said.
“You've got to start the season fast otherwise you're constantly playing catch up. So yeah, a quick start.”
