Met dept warns of possibility of heatwave from May 1

The scorching hot weather is likely to continue in the city till Saturday.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a four-day (from May 1 to May 4) heatwave alert for Karachi earlier this week during which sea breeze will remain suspended.

People in Karachi have been advised to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun. The authorities have recommended people to use wet towels on their heads during any outdoor work.

Meanwhile, composite measures have been taken by the provincial government and Karachi administration to meet any unwanted situation. While in view of the prevailing hot weather period in the city, an emergency has been also declared in all hospitals across Karachi.

Some 121 heatstroke centres and first response centres have been established by the Sindh government to provide relief to the citizens from the scorching heat.
