Dam fund generates Rs10.36 billion so far

LAHORE: Industrial workers of Punjab have donated Rs10 million for the construction of dams.

Punjab Minister for Labour Ansar Majeed Niazi, on behalf of industrial workers, presented a cheque to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, on Wednesday, during the inauguration ceremony of a labour colony at Warburton.

Niazi said Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has announced provincial labour policy and introduced many initiatives welfare of labourers in Punjab. Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid highlighted that Sehat Insaf Card scheme has also been launched to facilitate 88,000 families who would get medical treatment up to Rs720,000 and this amount would be increased if needed.

Federal Minister Ijaz Shah, who was present in the ceremony, said Nankana Sahib was ignored in the past. He pointed out that 22,000 kanals of state land has been retrieved from the land grabbers in Nankana Sahib alone during an anti-encroachment drive launched by the Punjab chief minister.
