Target killing on the rise in the area

D I KHAN: An elected public representative and journalist of Paroa tehsil of D I Khan was shot dead in an apparent case of target killing.

According to police, two unidentified gunmen raiding a motorbike targeted Malik Amanullah Muhammad Bakhsh near Indus Highway Landa Adda in the limits of the Gomal University police station. Critically injured Amanullah died on way to hospital. He was chairman of Paroa Tehsil and also used to write for local Urdu daily Meezan-e-Adl.

Police cordoned off the area and carried out a search operation but made no arrests.

Target killing was on the rise in the area. Religious scholars and prominent personalities have been targeted in recent past.

Police registered a case against unidentified people and started investigation in the case. Funeral prayers of the deceased were offered later in the day at his native village where he was laid to rest.
