Schools in the underdeveloped southern districts of K-P will be converted to solar-energy to facilitate students, teachers and staff.
Adviser to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Education Ziaullah Khan Bangash along with Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Regional Manager Abdullah Al Shoaibi and UK Department for International Development (DFID) Pakistan Deputy Head Kemi Williams formally inaugurated the First Solarised School under the Solar Southern Schools Project at Government Primary School Bazeed Khel Kohat on Monday.
The inaugural ceremony besides the Adviser on Education was also addressed by the Regional Manager SFD Abdullah Al Shoaibi, Hub Director UNOPS Charles Callanan and Additional Director Education Farid Khan Khattak.
The project is being implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in partnership with K-P education dept.
Bangash said Solar Schools Project will provide free, renewable electricity to more than 1,250 primary and middle school across the southern districts of the province including Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan.
