Lawyers demand IG takes action against those responsible for the act

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Bar Council on Friday called for a strike after shots were fired in an open court in Dera Ismail Khan.

The lawyers' community condemned the incident that occurred on Thursday and demanded the K-P inspector-general to take action against those responsible for the act.

The council condemned incidents of terrorism occurring in courts across the province.

Legal practitioners also boycotted courts as part of the strike.

On April 25, unidentified men opened fire in an open court in the city of Dera Ismail Khan. The incident reportedly injured two lawyers and a woman.

In 2018, three people including a lawyer were injured when an armed individual opened fire within the premises of the Peshawar judicial complex. The police said the accused – Saeedullah – opened firing at Lal Sher, injuring him and his counsel Khalil.
