LAHORE: United Nations (UN) Ambassador Muniba Mazari’s solo exhibition of paintings is underway at Alhamra Cultural Complex. Titled ‘And I choose to live’, the exhibition will continue until May 27.
A large number of people from different walks of life have visited the exhibition and have shown appreciation for the artwork on display. The artwork highlights the bittersweet moments and the complexities of every woman’s life. Through her art, Mazari wished to give women courage and strength.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, actor Faisal Qureshi said that there is no comparison in the way Mazari has highlighted women’s issues through her art. He appreciated the artwork and added that he had especially come for the show.
On the other hand, Mazari’s son expressed that he was proud of his mother. “She is a courageous woman and this quality is reflected in her artwork,” he stated. Visitors said that Mazari, someone who has bravely fought for her life, has managed to represent a vast array of women by pouring her emotions onto the canvas.
Mazari said that the tradition of highlighting women’s issues is ages old. However, everyone has their own unique style and I presented it in my style. “The response I received is beyond my expectations,” she said. Such encouragement gives artists the courage to continue to produce better work, she said.
