ISLAMABAD:
National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Thursday said legislative proposals are being made for the smooth conduct of parliamentary proceedings by reviewing all the affairs thoroughly.

Talking to Express News, the speaker said the nation has high expectations from the legislative assembly as “we are lawmakers”.

Urging the legislators to avoid negativity in their speeches, he said “I feel sad when any member of the House makes use of a non-parliamentary phrase or portrays non-constructive behaviour”.

He also said that as Speaker of the House he gives everyone a fair chance to raise their point so that people’s trust is maintained.

Qaiser added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan all the remaining issues will be resolved just like the 1992 Cricket World Cup where he captained the team and became the champions.

The NA speaker said a team of assembly members comprising lawmakers from both the treasury and the opposition will participate in the Inter-Parliamentary Cricket tournament to be held in England in July.

The team would not disappoint the nation if it had a contest with India, he said adding: “In the past, cricket was played to entertain few people but now cricket diplomacy will be followed as it is the most popular game in Pakistan”.
