Setting bad examples

Complete disregard for decorum and rules of the House is astounding

KARACHI: Sometimes I doubt the qualifications of our parliamentarians because of the behaviour they display in parliament. The past few days are reflective of the disorder they can create to disrupt the proceedings of the House.

Parliamentarians act like they are uneducated and speak out of turn as if they are in a fish market. The complete disregard for the decorum and rules of the House is astounding.

They are elected by the people to resolve their issues and deal with matters of governance in a civilised manner as they are supposed to be educated, but most of them are seen busy in slinging mud on one another.

They spend time either defending or lauding their party heads, or going on a tirade against their opponents. This shows how badly decorum and discipline lack in Parliament.

One even starts avoiding the news and would rather tune into Cartoon Network, where one can see a similar ruckus but at least feel entertained.

I urge our representatives to behave like educated gentlemen because they represent our society both at the domestic and international levels. They should always remember that example is always set from above. The ordinary people emulate them.
