United Bank: Islamic banking branch opened

UBL has made its North Karachi Industrial Area branch a complete Islamic banking branch.

KARACHI: United Bank Limited (UBL) has said it has made its North Karachi Industrial Area branch a complete Islamic banking branch, keeping in view the fast growing Islamic banking industry which enjoys eight per cent share in total banking activity. According to a press release, UBL’s Islamic banking business called ‘Ameen’, launched in 2006, has doubled its deposit base in 2010 with expectations of strong growth in 2011. At the branch inauguration ceremony, UBL’s Group Head for Islamic Banking Nusratullah Khan highlighted the need for a full-fledged Islamic banking branch in the North Karachi Industrial Area in order for the people to avail of Islamic banking services and facilities.
