Ahead of the 2019 Cricket World Cup, author Omar Shahid Hamid has revealed his upcoming project will shed light on the sport that has over the years garnered thousands of fans in Pakistan. Taking to Twitter, Hamid shared a picture of the book's cover. "Coming Soon #TheFix," he wrote.

The Fix is "a riveting novel on the networks of fixing in the world of cricket," as per the blurb. It reads, "Will the profusely talented Sanam Khan's rise to the pinnacle of world cricket be interrupted by the bookies and the powerful match-fixing mafia?"

This gives a better insight into what the novel is about: Women's cricket and match-fixing. Describing the story, the description adds, "Ever since she was 15 years old, the talented Sanam Khan has only had one dream — to win a world cup for her country. Now, thanks to her own efforts as the captain, her team of talented misfits in the Pakistan women's cricket team stand on the verge of realising that dream."

"But fate intervenes, and the team's success attracts the great corruptors of the sport, the match-fixing syndicates that captured the men's team two decades ago. Will Saman and her girls succeed where the men failed, or will history repeat itself?"

Is Pakistani author Omar Shahid Hamid signing a deal with Netflix?

Previously, the police officer-turned-author hinted that his famous book The Party Worker may be adapted into a film or a TV series. He followed his initial tweet by cryptic hashtags, one of which referred to Netflix. "Just signed a film/series deal for The Party Worker.#ThePartyWorker #netflixherewecome," he had stated.
