CM wants youth equipped with technical skills

Says technical education can combat unemployment and will equip youth with skills that an employer needs

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has said that the provincial government would focus on the skill development and technical training of youth to build the human capital available to Balochistan.
Presiding over a meeting to review the work of the task force on youth and durable development, Kamal called for engagement of the youth in the development process and economic activities for smoother integration into the workforce.
“The provincial government is committed to eradicating the extremism factor from society and promoting opportunities in the education sector for the youth and focus on their counselling,” he said.
Kamal said that the meeting decided to form a working group to present its recommendations to the task force.
Balochistan ministers Zahoor Ahmed Buledi and Abdul Khaliq Hazara, along with task force members Dr Asghar Ali, Javeria Tareen and Abdul Hadi Kakar as well as the youth development director attended the meeting.

The chief minister remarked that the UN had provided the yardstick for achievement of sustainable development goals, while calling its programmes an essential component in helping the youth showcase their skills.
“There are 17 targets for achievement, with betterment of education, eradication of poverty, gender equity, strong economy, better health facilities and clean environment among the key goals,” he said.
He said the government was hopeful of achieving these targets in order to pass on the benefits of the programme to the upcoming generation.
Kamal said that the government was taking several initiatives in this regard. “Technical education can play a key role in combating unemployment as it will equip the youth with skills that an employer needs,” he said, adding that their productivity would also contribute to Balochistan’s development and revenue generation.
He added that the provincial government would allocate funds for the capacity building of youth in Balochistan in the next budget of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), and directed the ministers and officials concerned to prepare a plan in this regard.
