RAWALPINDI: Colourful flower shows and daring acrobats in a circus drew a large number of residents of Rawalpindi to the Shamsabad Park of the city.

The show and the circus are all part of the 'Jashn-e-Rawalpindi' Festival organised by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) of the city.

PHA Chairman Asif Mehmood told the media said they were trying to attract families and students to the festival — whether as visitors or entrepreneurs since college and university students had been allotted stalls as well.

Mehmood elaborated that the main festival had been organised at Shamsabad Park.

To a question, he said that they had set up swings, food stalls, flower arrangements, magic and bird shows, book exhibition, face-painting, and even a shopping area in the park along with other recreational facilities.

"The basic aim of the festival is to provide an opportunity to the public to have fun during this spring season," said the PHA chairman.

He said the PHA was also making efforts during the festival to sensitize the people to come forward and actively participate in the clean and green programme of the government.
