BRI forum: PM Imran to leave for China tomorrow

Delegation comprising federal ministers and other senior officials will accompany the premier

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will leave for China on Thursday to attend the second Belt and Road forum for International Cooperation scheduled to be held from April 25-27 in Beijing.

A high-level delegation comprising federal ministers and other senior officials will accompany the premier during his visit.

On the first day, he will attend the inaugural session of the forum and deliver a keynote speech besides attending the state banquet to be hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping in the honour of world leaders.

He, along with other leaders, will attend the leaders’ roundtable sessions on the event’s second day.

The prime minister will also hold meetings with President Xi and his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang to promote bilateral relations between the two countries.

He will also meet world leaders on the sidelines of the forum.

On Tuesday, China had welcomed PM Imran's participation in the forum.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang, during a routine press briefing said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a flagship project of Belt and Road Initiative had delivered benefits to the people of two countries with concrete outcomes.
