Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar says all powers in the province rest with Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, dismissing reports of any differences with the provincial leadership.

“Usman Buzdar has full decision making powers like his predecessor Shehbaz Sharif,” he told a press conference in Lahore on Wednesday.

His statement comes amid reports of a power struggle between party leaders in the country's largest province.

In November last year, a leaked video showed Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leaders complaining to Jahangir Tareen about Sarwar's alleged interference into the matters falling in Buzdar's jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, Sarwar, in an Express News programme last week said he wasn't redundant enough to watch Tareen call all the shots in Punjab.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader also dismissed reports of him quitting as Punjab governor. “The reports of my removal from the post were circulated while I was on a visit to the US and UK," he said, adding that “I would not resign from the post no matter what, I was made governor after the hard work of four years”.

Sarwar maintained that had his directions been implemented, the PTI would have grabbed a two-thirds majority in the 2018 general elections from Punjab.

He also announced a complete disassociation with charity organisation Sarwar Foundation, saying he would not take part in any fundraising event until he was posted as the governor.
