KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday granted a four-week deadline to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to complete the ongoing probe against Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani.

A two-member bench headed by SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh presided over the hearing. The NAB counsel apprised the bench that the preliminary investigation had been completed and further requested an extension of four weeks to wind up the matter.

During the hearing, Durrani's counsel argued that the court should entertain a bail petition in the meantime as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader continues to 'rot' in prison.

When inquired about the number of cars Durrani has in his possession illegally, the accountability body's officer informed the court that the Sindh Assembly speaker had a total of 25 vehicles.

The court granted the anti-graft body till May 29 to conclude the investigation.
