Three injured as bus carrying Pakistani pilgrim rams into check post in Iraqi city

FO says Pakistan Embassy in Baghdad working with Iraqi authorities for safe return of passengers

At least three pilgrims travelling to Iraq were injured when a passenger bus rammed into a check post near Samarra.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the bus carrying 51 Zaireen ran into a check post on the night of April 21. Citing information provided by the Pakistani mission in Baghdad, the FO said the injured were shifted to Medical City Hospital.


“Passengers with minor injuries were treated and discharged. As of now 47 pilgrims are in good health while three are hospitalised due to serious injuries.”

The embassy in Baghdad is arranging safe return of the pilgrims to Pakistan in coordination with the Iragi authorities, the press release added.
