QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Amanullah Yasinzai has said the provincial government is serious in building new educational institutions as only an educated Balochistan could guarantee development and prosperity of Pakistan.

“Our youth should pay keen attention to their studies and teachers must play their role in educating the students,” the governor said on Thursday while addressing students and faculty at Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology (UET) at Khuzdar.

“[The Balochistan National Party leader] Sardar Attaullah Mengal has allocated 100 acres of land for sub-campus of the UET and has thus proven his knowledge friendly attitude,” he added.

Yasinzai, accompanied by the UET Vice Chancellor Dr Ehsanullah Kakar, visited several departments and inaugurated various projects completed with a cost of Rs800 million. “Fortunately I am visiting the UET sub-campus in Wadh and glad to see a large number of students,” he said.

Yasinzai laid stress on girls’ education and said: “People of Pakistan must note my words that without education of our girls we can’t achieve the dream of an educated Balochistan.”

Asking the students to focus on their studies, the governor said the students will lead the country in future thus they must divert their attention toward modern and technical education.

Addressing the ceremony, Lasbela University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Dost Muhammad Baloch said Wadh sub-campus has achieved major educational objectives in a short period, “We hope the Higher Education Commission (HEC) would start construction of new building of the UET in Wadh.”
