Promotional campaigns are being held all around Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi, in preparation for Halla Gulla's re-release. The Kamran Akbar Khan-directorial features Javed Sheikh, Ismail Tara, Muneeb Butt, Sidra Batool, Asim Mahmood and others.
Halla Gulla's music also received much praise from audiences and critics alike, especially the item number. This was one of the reason's for the project's success in 2015.
It is important to mention here that local cinema is currently facing issues due to the lack of films available for screening. After the ban on Indian films, the practice of re-releasing previously successful projects has come into play to keep the industry afloat.
Halla Gulla is releasing under the banner of the Distribution Club and distributors are hoping to screen it in as many cinemas as possible. "In 2015, Halla Gulla proved to be a good business venture and we are expecting it to provide us the relief we currently need," a Distribution Club official told The Express Tribune, seeking anonymity. "Hollywood films are also playing in cinemas right now but we are hopeful that cinemagoers will give preference to local films over international ones. Halla Gulla is a family entertainer and therefore, appropriate for all audiences."

The insider went on to state that there are no local films releasing until Eidul Fitr. "We are also keeping an eye on getting permission for the release of Indian films within Pakistan. However, the reality is that at this time, all stakeholders are united for the welfare and strength of Pakistani cinema and we support every step our government is taking to prevail in this situation."
