Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt to romance in 'Inshallah,' despite 27-year age gap
Film is being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt are gearing up to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next venture, titled Inshallah. The duo will be seen romancing one another in the film, despite a 27-year age gap. Many have come forward to slam their pairing on account of this though, reported Hindustan Times.
Previously, some thought Salman would be playing Alia's brother in Inshallah but new reports have revealed the duo will actually be seen as lovers. Apparently, Salman will star as a 40-year-old businessman in love with Alia's character - an aspiring actor in her 20s.
Mumbai Mirror has quoted a source as saying, “Salman is a businessman in his mid-40s. The character is reminiscent of his turn in his 1997 rom-com Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai. Alia plays an aspiring actor in her 20s. All the factors, including age gap, have been taken into consideration. The story will justify the teaming of two actors, from different generations, on a romantic journey.”
When fans began speculating about Salman and Alia's roles, the Raazi star had reacted saying, “I didn’t get any criticism. I think I got a lot of excitement. I think speculation is also a form of excitement in a way and why shouldn’t there be speculation."
She continued, "There should be and at least I am not bothered by that and I don’t think Salman or Bhansali sir are either. I think this is a film-maker who has given us very good films. He is someone who we all are very fond of and I think we should just trust him with his vision.”
The shooting for the film reportedly begins in September. “The locations under consideration are Haridwar, Rishikesh and Varanasi. The crew was contemplating over several places, including Europe, but settled on the US after several rounds of recce. Salman and Alia will be there during the winter,” the source added.
