RAWALPINDI: Health authority teams gave chocolates and food supplement satchels to children suffering from malnutrition and folic acid and zinc tablets to anemic women during a nutrition drive. The District Health Authority (DHA) reached out to around 2.3 million people in the ongoing six-day nutrition week, a statement said on Wednesday. DHA has termed these numbers as unusual achievement. Some 182,937 children and 42,010 women went under blood screening tests, during the campaign. Some 1,506 were diagnosed severe malnutrition while 5,031 were diagnosed with moderate malnutrition. Around 12,918 children were given ORS and zinc tablets while 160,794 children and 8,120 women were given tablets to overcome blood deficiency. Further, 17,716 pregnant women were given guidelines for conceiving healthy children.
