PESHAWAR: People of Peshawar don’t deserve to be treated as badly as the government has done to them in shape of Bus Rapid Transport (BRT), Peshawar High Court Justice Qaiser Rashid said on Tuesday.

Expressing dismay over the failure of drainage system due to BRT project’s excavation, he directed the Peshawar Development Authority and Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar to get the sewerage system flowing within one-and-a-half month.

While hearing the water treatment plant case, PHC two-member bench comprising Justice Qaiser Rashid and Justice Muhammad Ghazanfar Khan had summoned the secretary local government. Justice Rashid asked the city’s managers why there were no water drainage lines in the project.

“We have seen that after few hours of rains the PDA employees are digging the sides of the BRT and pavements of roads to make way for the rainwater to flow out,” he said.
