FAISALABAD: A special desk should be created in Prime Minister’s Secretariat for effectively monitoring exports, in addition to resolving day-to-day issues confronted by the sector of the country, said Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Syed Zia Alumdar.

Chairing a special meeting to finalise recommendations for the task force on textile, Alumdar said increase in exports and decrease in imports are major challenges to stabilise Pakistan’s economy on a sustained basis.

He said Pakistani embassies and high commissions in other countries should also project the concept of a peaceful and rising Pakistan to attract foreign buyers.

The FCCI president said Pakistan should select only 20 major exhibitions with aggressive marketing and techniques instead of participating in 200 to 250 exhibitions across the globe. “This would help Pakistan target only the potential markets instead of wasting time and money of exporters.”

He further stated that the government of Pakistan has announced special incentives for five major export sectors, including textile. These incentives must be uploaded on social media in order to convince buyers, he added.
