Man suspected of sexually assaulting child arrested in Nowshera

PESHAWAR/NOWSHERA: Two houses went from celebrating a wedding to mourning the death of the bride in a single day after a woman, who had just gotten married, allegedly committed suicide on her wedding night in the provincial capital.

Mathra Garhi police said that Aisha had married Kamran, a constable in the Peshawar Frontier Region police, on Saturday, with the valima reception set to be held on Sunday evening.

After the couple retired to their bedchamber, Kamran went out of their room early on Sunday to offer his Fajar prayers, When he returned, he saw his wife hanging dead from the ceiling fan with her dupatta tied around her neck.

As news of Aisha’s alleged suicide spread, the house turned mournful. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.

Suspected child abuser caught

A man, who allegedly sexually assaulted a child, has been arrested. The Akbarpura police said that MWS* had told them that after he returned from fajar prayers and found his eight-year-old son T* missing, he asked his wife about the whereabouts of the boy.

At this, his wife told him that the boy had gone to offer his prayer as well.

But when the boy did not return home for half an hour, MWS himself went to the mosque to search for his son.

There, he allegedly saw a young man physically assaulting his son in the mosque’s washroom. The suspect though fled as soon as he saw the boy’s father approach.

Based on MWS’ complaint, District Police Officer (DPO) Mansoor Aman, ordered the Akbarpura SHO to ensure the arrest of the suspect. After a brief search, the police managed to arrest the suspect. Police claimed that during questioning, the suspect allegedly confessed to his crime.
