Neelor Bala Incident: Bail application of 3 jirga members rejected

FIR registered against the seven people, out of which six arrested.

The bail applications of three men accused of stripping and parading a woman in Neelor Bala were rejected by the court of judicial magistrate here on Thursday.


Basheer Abbasi, Raqeeb Khan, and Matloob were indicted on the charges of instigating four brothers, Suleman, Manzoor, Arsalan, and Imran, to disrobe and parade Shaheen* in public. Shaheen’s son was accused of raping Saadia*, wife of Shabbir*. Later, on the intervention of local human rights organisations, an FIR was registered against the seven people, out of which six were arrested.

The three suspects filed for bail in the court of judicial magistrate. They were represented by Advocate Javed Tanoli, while Khursheed Azhar, Gulnaz Rasheed, Sheikh Javed and Shahid Mehboob appeared on behalf of the victim, supported by Sahara Foundation and Human Development Organisation and Rural Development Project. The court, after hearing the arguments, rejected their bail applications.
