Female student gang-raped by van driver, his friend in Layyah
Suspects arrested after CM Buzdar takes notice and directs authorities to provide swift justice to victim's family
LAHORE:
A college van driver along with his accomplice gang-raped a female student of intermediate in Punjab's Layyah town on Sunday.
The main suspect, identified as Ibrahim, took the girl to a deserted area in his van and sexually assaulted her with his friend.
The suspects left the girl outside a private hospital in critical condition and fled the scene.
After being informed, police reached the site and shifted the student to the Tehsil Headquarter Hospital.
Later, police registered a first information report (FIR) and arrested Ibrahim and his friend Nadeem after Chief Minister Usman Buzdar took notice of the incident.
Woman ‘gang-raped’ in Sialkot
While directing the authorities to take quick action against the culprits and provide swift justice to the victim at any cost, the chief minister had also sought a report of the incident from DPO Layyah at the earliest.
The interim medical report of the victim also confirmed that the students was subjected to rape, according to police officials.
Earlier on November 26, a woman was allegedly gang-raped in Sialkot’s Daska Tehsil.
The victim’s husband R*, a resident of Mitranwali, told the police that his wife was alone in her home when the accused Hamid and Iftikhar barged in. He added that the culprits took her to a room and allegedly gang-raped her.
