ISLAMABAD: Employees of the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Sanitation Department blocked the Islamabad Expressway for over an hour on Friday to protest against their unpaid wages.

As a result of their protest, the main highway linking the federal capital with Rawalpindi was packed bumper to bumper with cars.

During the protest, officials of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration or the Islamabad Traffic Police were seen anywhere to help mitigate the situation.

The protesting workers said that they have not been paid their wages for the past three months, forcing them to block the road in a bid to draw attention to their plight.
