Need for large-scale tree plantation

Trees provide fresh air by producing oxygen, and also help in stabilising the climate

KASSAK, BALOCHISTAN: Trees play a very important role as they not only beautify our environment but also help it by maintaining the balance in our ecosystem. They provide fresh air by producing oxygen, and also help in stabilising the climate. As we are experiencing drastic climate changes, we should take measures to slow down its effects. One such measure is planting lots of trees across the country, especially those that are native to our region. This will enhance our scenic greenery, help in increasing rainfall, and also prevent landslides and mudslides in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Especially in Balochistan, lack of reforestation has made the region bare leading to a decline in the rainfall too. After many years, rains have returned to Balochistan, and we should take advantage of it by planting as many trees as possible. The Balochistan chief minister had announced a five-year plan to plant more than 250 million trees across the province, earlier in February. He even said a forest act would soon be promulgated to promote reforestation. The people and the government of the province should work together to ensure we are able to reach this mark and help our natural ecosystem.
