Honouring Baloch poets

Letter April 07, 2019
I hope our country would follow that example and honour our poets and artists in suitable ways

BALL NIGWAR, BALOCHISTAN: Poets play a significant role in human societies, and are known by the thoughts they express in their poetry. There were great poets before and during the twentieth century such as Mirza Ghalib, William Shakespeare, Atta Shad, Allama Iqbal and many others, who are still known as masters of poetry and literature.

However, it pains me to see the innumerable talented Baloch poets present with us today and are yet not valued. Some examples of these great personalities are Manzoor Bismil, Muneer Momin and Zafar Akbar. All these people have produced great volumes which are read by many, yet they are mostly unknown among the common people. Developed countries honour their poets and artists in recognition of their contribution. I hope our country would follow that example and honour our poets and artists in suitable ways.
