Wheat Purchase: Food depts close to meeting target

ISLAMABAD: Provincial food departments and the grain procurement agency have so far purchased about 6.34 million tons of wheat for 2011-12 season. An official of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture said on Wednesday that the wheat procurement target was set at 6.57 million tons to meet domestic requirements and keep strategic food reserves.
