Sales Tax Imposition: Kiln owners threaten indefinite strike

APBOA representative says it is impossible for business to function with sales tax and high production costs.

FAISALABAD:

The brick kiln owners will launch country-wide demonstrations starting Friday, for an indefinite period, if 16 per cent sales tax on brink kiln units is not withdrawn immediately, according to All Pakistan Bhatta Owners Association President Shahaab Khan Niazi.

Niazi said on Wednesday that sales tax on kiln houses, it was impossible to run units as brick rates were already high because of an increase in coal prices, labour wages and other inputs required for manufacturing bricks.
