Model courts clear backlog of cases in 3 districts

The model courts in the province have managed to clear the backlog of murder and narcotics cases in three districts of the province – Ziarat, Harnai and Panjgur.
Supreme Court Monitoring Cell Director General Sohail Nasir issued a performance report on Friday according to which 116 model courts of the country announced verdicts pertaining to 61 cases of murder and 74 cases of narcotics, making it a total of 135 cases.
All courts recorded statements of 502 witnesses.
Two model courts to be set up in Islamabad
Six culprits were sentenced to death while nine to life imprisonment.
The culprits were also fined Rs9.267 million.
Nasir said, “The process of immediate hearing continues in the model courts. The public have termed the fast hearing of cases a very big change. The cooperation of lawyers in quick hearing and verdict of the cases has been exemplary.”
