Renowned drama writer Anwar Maqsood has recently announced he will be presenting a new theatre play titled Naya Pakistan, after the success of Naach Na Jaanay.
Addressing the press conference at Arts Council Karachi, Maqsood revealed he is writing the new drama which will be staged on Independence Day. The play will be directed by Dawar Mahmood, who is also helming Maqsood's recent offering - the Yasir Hussain-starrer Naach Na Jaanay.
The famed writer also said that this drama is being written on the request of the director himself and Arts Council President Ahmed Shah. The funds collected from Naya Pakistan will be spent on the artistes from the past who do not appear on the screen anymore.
Maqsood shared that the story of Naya Pakistan revolves around country’s current situation. The protagonist is a pushcart vendor who roams the streets and sells old Pakistan into new Pakistan. We will see Allama Iqbal's character in it as well!
The writer continued on how Naya Pakistan has also been screened before as well but that was under a different name.
Due to its popularity, after presenting this drama in United Arab Emirates, South Africa is being considered too.
