To solve the complaints of joblessness from doctoral scholars, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Wednesday launched a job portal for such scholars.

The portal has been built on one of Pakistan's largest job placement platform which will match the scholars with jobs in their chosen disciplines.

The portal will provide PhD scholars access to opportunities in academia, research institutions, and in the private sector where they can leverage the unique skills they have developed while pursuing their doctorate in philosophy (PhD) degrees.

Over time, the commission hopes that increased use of the portal will provide them with job data analytics which will in turn help shape future policy.

The portal utilises data of unemployed PhDs who had registered with the commission this year. These scholars will have profiles created on the platform and can take advantage of the site’s matching algorithm and job alerts feature.

PhD scholars who have not registered with the HEC so far can directly register themselves on the portal.

Moreover, the candidate’s profile has been enhanced to include specific areas that are relevant to people seeking jobs with experience in the field of research or academia such as publications, teaching experience, grant experience and so on.
